Food, glorious food.

Over the past few months on the weekends, apart from busy trying to cram another language into my little brain, I have been busy sharpening my cooking skills! I am all about self improvement these days.

Here's a little taste of what I made earlier...

List of things to see in Tokyo

I am fortunate enough to be able to travel to many different places, but I always have this problem of knowing what to see when I get there. Sure, I buy the standard Lonely Planet guides and quickly browse through them for the usual 'must see' things, but obviously it doesn't cater for the architecture / interior fetishists. Yes, yes there are also books that cover the 'must see' architecture and interiors too, but they are often outdated as soon as they are published; as new interiors / buildings spring up all over the place all the time, especially in a city like Tokyo.

Seen that I am pretty sure I will go back to Tokyo some when this year, I am starting to note down all the new things I see on the intarnets and magazines, so I know where to go when I get there. I can see certain someone rolling his eyes already... sowy! I promise I won't make you take me to all these places this time, unless you want to of course. :D

1. Marni store in Aoyama shopping district, by Sybarite.

2. Swatch store in Ginza, by Shigeru Ban.

I will obviously keep updating this entry, so watch this space!

Leave the Banksys plz

I have been a fan of Banksy's work for many years, and love discovering them as I walk around London and Bristol. The wonderfully imple, powerful, yet humorous messages always bring a smile to my face and clearly I am not the only one who enjoys them.

Recently, he's name has been hitting the headlines not because of the great works that he has done, but because people are stealing or removing them from the streets piece by piece... not doubt to try flog them on the black market, as his artworks are now worth a pretty penny. In this money orientated society, there are few good things that come for free, and one of the many great things about his art work is that you don't have to pay to see it... you don't even have to go to a gallery to stand behind ropes to see it. They are just there, for everyone and anyone to discover and to bring a smile to their faces.

This is really just a simple plea, asking those people who are deliberately sabotaging his artworks or stealing the pieces to STOP. You are taking away that little bit of joy from everyone's lives. And to people who are buying the stolen pieces... shame on you; those art works are meant for the public and the context in which they are created... not for your living room.
