Wish I was there
In no particular order,
1. 9-11.
2. The fall of the Berlin Wall.
3. Nirvana headlining the Reading festival 1992.
4. Any one of Jeff Buckley's performances at Sin-é.
I guess they were all powerful moments where everyone around you would be feeling the exact same intense emotions... the atmosphere must have been amazing!

Well, not in the WTC.. but be in NY city.
i'd hardly describe the experience of being here during 9/11 as amazing. more like horrifying. i don't think you would have been struck with such awe.
You are right. the word 'amazing' seems wrong to be used when related to such a horrific event. But if you can, for a second, remove yourself from the thought of the casualty caused, but just look at how for that moment everyone was feeling the same intense emotions. It's THAT I find incredibly powerful.
you can still try to catch such event as estonian revolution of monument which is going on these days.
