I am not doing very well with this blog thing am I?
I am still struggling with this final year project thing and time is running out. I have tried to take few days off here and there, but every time I get back to the studio I just want to leave again. I need to find some motivation!
Went to the
China, The Three Emperors exhibition and the
Pixar exhibition last weekend. We were surprised to find that an Italian painter, Giuseppe Castiglione, actually did a lot of the paintings there and heavily influenced other famous Chinese painters at that time. If you look at
this image closely, you can actually see that the plant in the foreground and the horse is painted in a very 'westernised' manner. A bit like someone has photoshoped the emperor and the saddle on to another image with the horse. The Pixar exhibition was really good and had lots of amazing collages, pastel drawings and sketches. Some sketches were labeled with texts specifying little details to be added to each character, e.g. the length and type of hair and how it should respond to wind and movements, and others were quick character studies. The pastel drawings and collages testing colour palates and scenes were so beautifully drawn that I so want to have one on my wall! The exhibition really illustrates the amount of passion and detail that goes into creating each individual character, and I now can't wait to see the
new Pixar movie out in the summer. You should all just go to the exhibition...Even if it's just to see this really cool installation they have (I won't ruin the surprise here)!
Oh, for you people who wants to see more pics of me......here is one of me, Issy and Laura (right to left) trying to be the next Charlie's angels!
